Tye Hamer, MFT

Psychotherapist in Atlanta, GA.

Hi, I’m Tye Hamer, a BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, Women & Neurodivergent Psychotherapist in Atlanta, GA.

I work with individuals, couples, and families, especially those in BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, women, and neurodivergent communities, who want a safe, affirming space to explore what’s holding them back and move toward something more connected and true.

You might be feeling overwhelmed, unsure of how to talk about what’s going on, or just exhausted from holding it all together. That’s okay. You don’t need to have it all figured out before starting therapy. This is a space where you get to show up as you are—and we’ll figure it out together.

My Therapy Style and What You Can Expect

I show up with warmth, curiosity, and a lot of respect for your story. You don’t have to have the right words or explain everything perfectly. Whether we’re talking through something hard or just sitting in quiet for a moment, we’ll go at your pace.

I use a mix of approaches like Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Collaborative Dialogic Therapy. That might sound like a lot—but really, it just means we’ll find what works best for you. Some days that might be tools and strategies. Other days, it’s just having a space to feel heard.

Who I Work With

I’ve walked through a lot of these identities myself. That’s why I care so much about creating space where you don’t have to explain who you are just to be supported.

  • I’ve lived the experience of being Black and know how exhausting it can be to have to explain parts of your identity. Therapy with me is a place where you don’t have to translate. We can talk about generational pain, pressure, joy, and everything in between—with honesty, cultural awareness, and real care.

  • You deserve support that doesn’t question who you are. I offer LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy that centers your identity, your safety, and your truth. Whether you’re exploring your gender, healing from past harm, or just looking for a space where you don’t have to explain yourself—I’m here to hold that with you.

  • If you’re autistic, ADHD, or still figuring it out, therapy shouldn’t feel like another place where you have to mask or “fix” yourself. I work in a way that respects your brain, your pacing, and your sensory needs. Whether we’re tackling overwhelm, burnout, or relationships, we’ll find rhythms and tools that fit how you move through the world.

  • Whether you're questioning, rediscovering, or just want to talk more openly about your sexuality, this is a space where nothing needs to be hidden or justified. You get to bring your full self, without shame.

  • If you’re used to carrying too much and putting yourself last, therapy can be a space to finally pause and breathe. You don’t have to perform or keep it all together here. You get to take up space—fully and unapologetically.

  • Infidelity can bring up pain, confusion, and disconnection. Whether you’re trying to understand what happened or figuring out what comes next, I offer a space to process without judgment—and move toward clarity and healing.

  • Every relationship has its seasons. Whether you’re navigating conflict, distance, or just feel stuck, I help couples communicate more openly, understand each other more deeply, and rebuild a sense of closeness.

  • Family therapy is about more than fixing one issue—it’s about shifting patterns, creating safety, and learning new ways to relate. I work with families who are ready to move out of cycles that no longer serve them.

How I Support You

Therapy is about feeling seen, heard, and supported—at your pace and in your way. I’m here to walk beside you as we work toward the life and relationships you want.

  • Using Emotionally Focused Therapy, I help clients explore emotions and patterns in their relationships to build deeper understanding and connection. Whether you’re in couples therapy or individual work, EFT is a proven approach that fosters secure, supportive bonds

  •  This approach highlights your strengths and what’s already working in your life. Together, we create practical, achievable steps that help you make meaningful changes and feel more in control of your mental health and relationships.

  •  Narrative therapy helps you examine the stories you tell about yourself and your experiences. We’ll work to rewrite those narratives, especially if they’ve been shaped by trauma or societal pressures, so you can live in a way that feels authentic and empowering.

  • Therapy is a conversation where your voice leads. I bring curiosity and reflection, and together we create a space for honest dialogue, mutual respect, and growth.

  • As a psychotherapist in Atlanta who works closely with neurodivergent individuals, I provide affirming care tailored to autistic, ADHD, and other neurodivergent clients. Therapy respects your unique needs, processing style, and sensory experiences so you feel truly supported.
