Hi, I’m Joseph Cabrera Santos, a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern who supports individuals, couples, families, and people connected to military life in building trust and better communication.

There are moments in life when relationships feel out of sync, communication breaks down, or stress begins to take over. Whether you’re navigating family transitions, rebuilding trust after betrayal, managing ADHD, or balancing the demands of healthcare or military life, you don’t have to face it alone. My role is to create a calm and supportive space where you can unpack what’s weighing on you and begin to find peace and direction again.

I love working with couples and families who want to understand one another more deeply, repair emotional distance, and create stronger foundations for the future. I also support individuals dealing with anxiety, burnout, or the unique stressors that come with serving in the military or being part of a military family. Together, we focus on communication, emotional connection, and building tools that help you move forward with confidence and stability.

As someone who lives with ADHD and has deep roots in both Puerto Rican and military culture, I approach therapy with empathy, humor, and understanding. I’m fully bilingual in English and Spanish and offer culturally responsive care for Hispanic, multicultural, and military-connected clients.

My Therapy Style and What You Can Expect

My therapeutic style is collaborative, emotion-focused, and rooted in systemic thinking. I help clients see how patterns connect across relationships and life experiences. I believe that healing happens through genuine connection and that every person has the capacity to grow, heal, and reconnect with what matters most.

Therapy is a space where emotions can be expressed and understood without judgment. You don’t need to have the perfect words or know exactly how you feel. Together, we’ll slow down, explore what’s really going on, and take steady steps toward clarity and connection.

My hope is that each session helps you feel lighter, more self-aware, and more connected to yourself and the people you care about.

Who I Work With

  • I help couples rebuild trust and rediscover emotional closeness. Together, we explore what’s causing distance and learn healthier ways to communicate, listen, and respond to one another. My approach encourages honesty and empathy, helping partners move from tension toward teamwork and understanding.

  • I provide therapy for service members, veterans, and military families who may be navigating deployment stress, frequent transitions, or communication struggles at home. Together, we work on strengthening connection, managing change, and finding stability in times of uncertainty.

  • ADHD and ADD can impact attention, mood, and relationships in many ways. I help clients understand how their energy and focus work, and we create realistic strategies to stay organized, grounded, and confident. Therapy becomes a space to learn new tools and appreciate your unique strengths.

  • As a bilingual, Spanish-speaking therapist, I offer a space where culture and language are embraced. Therapy can feel different when it reflects your values, traditions, and background. I aim to make counseling accessible and supportive for the Hispanic community by providing care that honors identity, family, and cultural connection.

  • Family relationships can be full of love and conflict at the same time. I support families in opening up difficult conversations, setting boundaries, and developing a new rhythm of communication that feels respectful for everyone. My goal is to help each person feel heard and valued while strengthening the family bond.

  • Parenting brings both joy and exhaustion. I work with parents to manage stress, improve patience, and find balance between caring for others and caring for themselves. Together, we look at the patterns that shape your family dynamic and find small, meaningful changes that create more harmony at home.

  • Premarital counseling is an opportunity to build a strong foundation for your future together. We discuss communication, expectations, values, and shared goals to prepare for marriage with confidence and clarity. For newlyweds, therapy can be a supportive space to navigate the transitions of early partnership with love and understanding.

  • Many clients come to therapy wanting to understand how faith or spirituality fits into their life. I welcome conversations about belief, purpose, and identity, whether you’re questioning, reconnecting, or seeking deeper meaning. My goal is to create an open space where your values and spirituality can support your emotional healing.

Bilingual Therapy and Support for the Hispanic Community in Atlanta

As a Spanish-speaking intern therapist, I’m passionate about making therapy accessible and relatable for the Hispanic community. Mental health is often something we’re taught to handle quietly or keep within the family, but everyone deserves a safe space to be heard and understood.

In my sessions, clients can express themselves comfortably in either English or Spanish. I recognize that language is deeply tied to emotion and identity, and being able to communicate in the language that feels most natural often leads to deeper connection and healing.

I work with individuals, couples, and families from all cultural backgrounds, but I have a special commitment to supporting Hispanic clients who want to explore their emotions, strengthen family bonds, and navigate life’s transitions with confidence.

If you’ve ever felt unsure about starting therapy or worried that a therapist might not understand your background, know that you’re welcome here. Together, we’ll work toward growth, understanding, and genuine emotional well-being

Therapist for military members

Therapy for Military Members and Their Families

Life in the military often brings unique stress, frequent transitions, and emotional challenges that can affect both service members and their loved ones. I offer therapy for individuals, couples, and families connected to military life who want a safe place to process those experiences and strengthen their relationships.

Having deep roots in military culture, I understand the structure, sacrifice, and emotional weight that come with that lifestyle. My goal is to create a supportive space where military members and their families can talk openly, rebuild trust, and find balance during times of change.

Whether you’re adjusting after deployment, navigating long-distance communication, or coping with the impact of military transitions at home, therapy can help you feel grounded, connected, and understood.
