Joi C. Rumph, MS
Joi works with individuals, couples, and families facing addiction and recovery, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, life transitions, grief, and periods of feeling stuck. Her style is direct, honest, and focused on helping people make real changes in their lives. In-person sessions in Dunwoody and telehealth sessions are available across Georgia.
Hi, I’m Joi
I help individuals, couples, and families work through the places in life that feel heavy, complicated, or hard to change.
I’ve always been drawn to people who know they want something different, even when they are not quite sure how to get there. Sometimes that looks like addiction or recovery. Sometimes it is anxiety, depression, grief, relationship struggles, or a major life change that has left you feeling stuck.
I’m honest and direct in the way I work, and I genuinely believe you’re capable of change. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can say what is really going on, look at it clearly, and figure out what needs to change. I want you to leave our work feeling supported, heard, and more confident in your ability to make those changes.
A lot of what I bring into the room comes from life experience too. I have been married for more than 30 years, raised children, worked, experienced loss, seen addiction affect a family, and understood what it is like to reach a point where you want a new start. I’ve also seen women reach a stage in life where they feel unfulfilled and know they want something different, which is one of the reasons this work matters so much to me.
One belief that guides my work is simple: change your mind and you change your life. I believe people can change, even after years of feeling stuck. My job is to help you find what works for you, build the motivation to act on it, and start creating a life that feels more like your own.
Who I Work With
-
I work with people who are seeking sobriety, maintaining recovery, or adjusting to life after a treatment program. That transition can be difficult once the structure and support of treatment are gone. Therapy can offer ongoing, confidential support as you build routines, manage setbacks, and figure out what sobriety looks like in everyday life.
-
I work with women who feel unfulfilled, restless, or ready for a new chapter. Therapy can help you sort through what is no longer working and get clearer about what you want next.
-
I work with couples and families dealing with conflict, relationship strain, changing family dynamics, and other issues that are affecting how they communicate and connect.
-
This stage of life can bring major decisions, shifting relationships, identity questions, and uncertainty about what comes next. I work with older teens and young adults who want support as they figure out what needs to change.
-
I also work with adults and older adults facing loss, relationship changes, family concerns, emotional struggles, or life transitions that have left them unsure about their next step.
My Approach to Therapy
I show up in session the same way I’d want someone showing up for me: honest, present, and fully engaged. I lead with directness because I believe you deserve real feedback, and I bring that same honesty with compassion and a genuine belief in your ability to change.
I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, mindfulness-based practices, trauma-informed care, person-centered therapy, and strengths-based work. I pay attention to what works for you personally and shape our work around what you are actually dealing with, rather than forcing everything into one method.
More than anything, I want sessions to feel relaxed, comfortable, and open. A place where you can say what is really going on, feel heard, and leave with a clearer sense of what you want to do next.
I offer in-person therapy in Dunwoody, GA, and virtual therapy throughout Georgia.

What I Can Help You With
Addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship problems, and major life changes do not always show up neatly on their own. One issue can start affecting another, and before long it can be hard to tell what needs attention first. Therapy gives us room to sort through what is happening, understand what keeps repeating, and focus on the changes that would make the biggest difference in your day-to-day life.
:::
-
Support around substance use, recovery, relapse patterns, rebuilding stability, and making changes that support the life you want to create.
-
Anxiety, depression, and past traumatic experiences can affect how you think, feel, respond to stress, and relate to the people around you. Therapy can help you understand those patterns and work toward feeling more steady and in control.
-
Major changes can leave you questioning what comes next. This can include career shifts, relationship changes, loss, starting over, or simply knowing that something in your life needs to be different.
-
Communication problems, recurring conflict, strained relationships, and family dynamics can become difficult to manage without outside support.
-
Grief can affect your emotions, relationships, routines, and sense of direction. Therapy can give you space to process what has changed and what you are carrying with you.
-
This can include difficulty saying no, feeling responsible for everyone else, struggling with confidence, or having emotions that feel hard to manage in the moment.
